BURLINGTON, MA — House of Representatives candidate Ken Gordon picked up another endorsement this month, receiving backing from the group Reproductive Equity Now as this year’s Democratic primary elections approach in September.

Gordon is running to hold his 21st Middlesex District seat amid a challenge from Timmy Sullivan, a Burlington resident and nonprofit leader. The 21st Middlesex District will include Burlington, Bedford and portions of Lexington beginning with this year's election cycle following redistricting.

Gordon has served in the legislature since 2013.

“We are proud to work alongside Ken Gordon for reproductive equity for all,” Reproductive Equity Now wrote in its endorsement message on Aug. 2. “Ken knows how important reproductive equity is to his constituents, and we’re confident he will continue to be a committed fighter in the House.”

Gordon thanked Reproductive Equity Now in his own message.

“Such an honor to be endorsed by this wonderful organization that partners with us to defend the rights of women to have the freedom to make choices about their own healthcare without the interference of government,” he said in a statement on social media.

Reproductive Equity Now is an organization specifically focused on ensuring access to reproductive health care.

Its endorsement follows previous backing for Gordon, including an endorsement from the Coalition for Social Justice in late July.

The coalition bills itself as being focused on “progressive social change rooted in low-income communities and communities of color that have been excluded from the economic benefits of the current system.”

This year’s Democratic primary is set for Sept. 6.

Early voting starts on Aug. 27.
