Lahey Hospital In Burlington Celebrates 100th Anniversary

Lahey Hospital & Medical Center celebrated its 100th year earlier this month.

BURLINGTON, MA — Lahey Hospital & Medical Center celebrated its 100th anniversary earlier this month. The hospital held a celebration Sept. 6 at the Crowne Plaza in Woburn.

Susan Moffatt-Bruce, MD, PhD, President of Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, said Lahey's "uniquely compassionate and supportive culture is paramount to its success in providing world-class, collaborative care to the community."

Lahey has more than 500 physicians and 5,000 nurses, therapists, and other providers.

"As we look to the future, we have tremendous excellence to build on. Our commitment, as leaders, is to continue to care deeply, ensuring we create caring spaces and environments and treat all our resources with care," Moffatt-Bruce said in a statement.

Recently, Lahey announced a new partnership with the UMass Chan School of Medicine to establish a regional campus in Burlington that will emphasize leadership, health systems science, and interprofessional education. The first cohort of medical students participating in the program will begin in August 2024.

The hospital also earned high marks in quality and safety in an evaluation of of more than 4,500 hospitals across the country.
