Today is Friday, Aug. 2. Here are five things to know:

1) Morning clouds

Looks like a gray start to the day but things will improve. The National Weather Service is calling for a chance of rain and thunderstorms this morning before 8 a.m. and then a chance of showers until noon. Otherwise mostly cloudy but gradually clearing through the day. High near 83 degrees. Low around 62 tonight.

2) West Nile Virus

3) What was New England like during the Ice Age?

The Burlington Public Library is holding a "Ice Age New England" program at 1 p.m. today for children age two and up. Learn about the types of animals that lived in New England during the Ice Age, and meet some of their small cat descendants.

4) A book and a smoothie

The library is also holding a book discussion for young people in grade 6 and up. What have you been reading this summer?  Stop by the Library and tell us about your favorite summer while enjoying a tasty smoothie!  Questions?  Call the Youth Services desk at the Library at 781-270-1692
