Monday Essentials: Tournament Featuring Popular Wii Game at the Library

Five things to know about this upcoming week.

Welcome to Monday Essentials, our weekly column taking a look at the week ahead. Here are five things to know about this week:

1) Cooler week until Friday

Looks like mostly a comfortable week temperature-wise. According to the National Weather Service most days this week will be in the 75-78 degree range with the temperatures hitting the 80s on Friday. We can also expect mostly sunny skies with a chance of rain on Thursday.

2) Create your own jewelry

Come down to the Burlington Public Library at 3 p.m. Monday for a chance to make bracelets out of colorful safety pins. The program is for children in grade 6 and up.

3)  Bow hunting

Bow hunting for deer in the Landlocked Forest has been approved by the Board of Selectmen but the details on the rules have yet to be ironed out. Join the discussion this Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the Town Hall Annex basement meeting room when the Board of Selectmen subcommittee on the subject, led by Selectman Daniel Grattan, meets to continue the dialogue.

4) Wii Tournament

Enjoy playing Super Smash Brothers on the Nintendo Wii? Test your skills at the Burlington Public Library this Thursday from 2:45 to 4:45 p.m. in a Smash Brothers Tournament and vie for a big prize. The tournament is for children in grade 5 and up. Registration is required for this program: call the Youth Services department at 781-270-1692, or visit the Library's on-line calendar, navigate to August 8 and click on the 'hand' to bring up a registration form.

5) Learn to skate

BHSA will be holding ice skating lessons at the Burlington Ice Palace on Saturday mornings  and Monday evenings starting Saturday September 7 from 9:20 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. Call Colleen at 978-729-1350 for details.
