The town ranked ninth in the nation in education and health, 33d in economic health and 86th in safety. It was also 280th in affordability and 515th in quality of life. Burlington was one of eight Massachusetts communities in the top 20. Lexington (4th,) Reading (5th,) Milton (8th,) Melrose (9th,) Arlington (14th,) Newton and Needham (t-16th) ranked above it.
