Proposal To Rescind Ban On Retail Marijuana Sales In Burlington Fails

A proposal to reverse the prohibition of retail marijuana sales in town failed by a narrow margin, according to a report.

BURLINGTON, MA — A proposal to rescind the town's prohibition on retail marijuana establishments narrowly failed to pass in a recent vote, according to The Daily Times Chronicle.

The proposal to prohibit marijuana sales was passed in 2017. The proposal to reverse the ban would be the first of three steps necessary to establish a recreational dispensary.

The measure failed by a vote of 44 to 46.
