Puppet Fun at the Burlington Public Library

Five things to know in Burlington today.

Today is Thursday, August 1. Here are five things to know: 

1) Mostly sunny today, possible storms tonight 

Looks like another nice day today. According to the National Weather Service we can expect some morning fog but after that mostly sunny skies with a high near 82 degrees. There is an 80 percent chance of some rain today and a possibility of thunderstorms, mostly after 8 p.m. 

2) Outdoor lighting discussion 

The Burlington Planning Board is meeting at 7:30 p.m. this evening in the main hearing room at Town Hall. Among the agenda items is a discussion on new rules that were proposed on outdoor lighting. 

3) Puppet fun 

The Burlington Public Library is holding a puppet show for people of all ages at 2 p.m. today. There will be three shows in one: The Three Bears, Three Billy Goats Gruff, and the Three Little Pigs, performed by the Library's talented teen volunteers. Open to all and free of charge. No registration required.

4) Celebrate recovery 

The  Revive Community Church is holding weekly Celebrate Recovery gatherings for those who could use a little help. Celebrate Recovery is a free recovery program open to anyone in the community with hurts, habits or hang-ups.  Sometimes life becomes unmanageable due to depression, low self-esteem, anger, addiction, pain, guilt, anxiety, or fears. A dinner is available at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m. The names of attendees are kept anonymous. 

5) Play bridge

Like to play bridge? Want to meet and gather with new people? The Burlington Public Library has a weekly Thursday Night Bridge group starting at 6:30 p.m. It's free to play so come down and have some fun.
