Smith & Wollensky Reveals Some Details About Burlington Location
The steakhouse will have dining rooms on 2 levels and a horseshoe bar, though a grand opening date won't be revealed until the new year.

BURLINGTON, MA — Boston-based Smith & Wollensky steakhouse is getting closer to opening a new location in Burlington, the company confirmed Friday.
In a press release celebrating the company's 45h anniversary, Smith & Wollensky said it was planning to open new locations in the Boston area, Washington D.C. and internationally.
"Burlington is the first location that will be home to the newest Smith & Wollensky, expanding the brand's presence in its hometown of Boston, Massachusetts," the release stated.

The opening of the restaurant hardly was a secret. This past summer, the Burlington Planning Board unanimously approved a special permit for the steakhouse to open in the former Del Frisco's Grille space, at 92 Middlesex Turnpike.
But Friday's release offered a few more details about the location.

"The restaurant will have dining rooms on two levels, a large horseshoe bar, an upper-level indoor-outdoor bar, expansive private event spaces and outdoor patio dining," the company said in the release.
Smith & Wollensky said more details about the design and the (date) of the grand opening would be announced in the new year.
According to its website, Smith & Wollensky currently has nine locations, including at Boston's Atlantic Wharf, 294 Congress St., and at Church Square in Wellesley, 583 Washington St. The other locations are in Chicago, Columbus, Ohio, Las Vegas, Miami Beach, London, New York and Taipei City, Taiwan.
The Daily Times Chronicle reported this past summer that the 92 Middlesex Turnpike location had been vacant since Del Frisco's Grille closed its doors on Oct. 15, 2019.
The same article suggested that in Nov. 2021, PPX Hospitality Brands had been granted a special permit to open a Strega Italiano restaurant in the former Del Frisco's space.
But PPX, which is the parent company for both Strega and Smith & Wollensky, reportedly changed its plans, deciding Smith & Wollensky was a better fit.
"We looked at the space and felt Smith & Wollensky is on a wonderful track, and is a much more natural fit with the former Del Frisco's Grille building already set up as a steakhouse," a representative from PPX told the Daily Times Chronicle.
