State Police Helicopter Locates Missing Burlington Woman

Police found a missing elderly woman in her car on Route 3 on Thursday evening.

BURLINGTON, MA — A state police helicopter was instrumental in finding a missing 87-year-old woman in Burlington recently.

Air 5, a State Police Air Wing helicopter, received a "be on the lookout" alert from State Police Troop A Headquarters regarding a missing elderly woman.

The woman, who is living with dementia, went missing in Burlington and was reported to possibly be driving a red Toyota.

Air 5 searched the area and quickly found the vehicle stopped in a breakdown lane on Route 3 south in Burlington, state police said.

Sergeant Kristopher Malm and Troopers Kenneth Dinjian and Brendan Crowther used the helicopter's infrared and color cameras to confirm the vehicle was a red Toyota.

The helicopter's crew then directed state police and Burlington firefighters and EMS to the location.

Crews located the woman, who was transported to an area hospital.

"We are grateful that we were able to locate the missing woman and ensure she received medical help," police said in a statement.
