Timmy Sullivan Nets Act On Mass Endorsement In 21st Middlesex Race

Act On Mass is a nonprofit advocating for increased transparency in state government.

BURLINGTON, MA — Democratic state House of Representatives candidate Timmy Sullivan secured a new endorsement this week from the organization Act On Mass.

Act On Mass announced its endorsement on Monday, writing in a tweet that it was “thrilled to endorse” Sullivan.

A nonprofit, Act On Mass has pushed for transparency in Massachusetts state government, circulating their “transparency pledge ” to call on legislators to make otherwise private votes publicly available.

“Massachusetts’ legislature is one of the most secretive in the country,” the organization says on its website. “Important progressive legislation is killed year after year in back rooms without any public record. But together we can change this.

Sullivan is running in the 21st Middlesex District, which will include Burlington, Bedford and portions of Lexington beginning with this year's election cycle following redistricting.

Sullivan is challenging incumbent Ken Gordon in the primary.

He’s secured previous endorsements from the Sierra Club, Progressive Democrats of Massachusetts and Incorruptible Massachusetts.

Sullivan is a longtime Burlington resident currently serving as the executive director for PHENOM, which works to expand access to education opportunities.

Primary election day is Sept. 6.
