Two Women In Serious Condition After Being Struck By Car In Burlington

Police say the two women were walking in the crosswalk near Francis Wyman Road and Cedar Street Sunday morning when they were hit.

BURLINGTON, MA — Two women are in stable but critical condition Monday after being hit by a car at full speed in Burlington Sunday morning.

Police responded to the area near Francis Wyman Road and Cedar Street around 11:53 a.m. and found that two women were in the crosswalk when they were hit by a car and sent into the air.

Boston 25 spoke with the mother of one of the girls and identified the women as 33-year-old Maura Gildea and her future sister-in-law, saying "They're both two beautiful girls, and I don't know if they’re ever going to be the same. They're going to be in pain for a long, long time."

The two women were reported by Boston 25 to have been coming from Trader Joe's before they were hit, and now Gildea is intubated.

Police say the driver stopped and is cooperating. It's unclear if the driver will be facing any charges or citations.
