BURLINGTON, MA - Area community members have a chance to raise money to cure Ataxia — a rare neurological disease that progressively impacts a person’s ability to walk, talk and use fine motor skills — ahead of an event in Burlington next month.
The Walk n’ Roll to Cure Ataxia will take place on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. at the Burlington Town Common. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
Ataxia symptoms can mimic those associated with being drunk, ranging from slurred speech to stumbling and falling. Treatments generally combine medication and various therapy programs, as noted by the National Ataxia foundation.
