Local restrictions
Here's what we know about how local officials are handling the storm. Check the town's Snow Storm Alert Center for the most up-to-date information.
Snow emergency?
Burlington does not typically declare snow emergency parking bans — because parking on town streets is banned overnight all winter long. Beginning Dec. 1, on-street parking was prohibited between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. every night.
The town begins to plow major roads after about 2 inches of accumulation, followed by secondary roads and then minor roads and dead ends. It is both unsafe and illegal to shovel or plow snow into the road, the town notes.

Trash collection
Trash collection has been delayed until Friday.
School cancellations
Burlington Public Schools will be closed Thursday for a snow day, the district said Wednesday. There will not be remote learning.
For many Massachusetts districts, the prospect of school being canceled for snow days has dimmed significantly for the pandemic. But in Burlington, children will still get at least one day off.
Other measures
"Please make sure to remove all basketball hoops, sports nets, ramps, etc. from the street and right of way as the town is not responsible if said items are damaged during a snow/salt event," the Public Works Department said.
Town offices will open late at 10 a.m., Thursday.
