She first stepped into the national spotlight through her collaboration with renowned saxophonist Joshua Redman on his acclaimed 2023 album where are we. In a five-star review, DownBeat praised her as “a young singer with a deep, rich, and fragile voice… a star in the making.”

Born in Escondido, California, to Italian American parents, Cavassa grew up “obsessively listening” to records, developing an intuitive, self-taught vocal style that now defines her singular sound.
