Boston Among Top US Cities for Overall Diversity

WalletHub compared 313 cities across America for it's "2015 Most & Least Ethno-Racially Diverse Cities" report.

The City of Boston is ranked among the 25 most ethnic and racially diverse cities in America.

That’s according to a recent study conducted by WalletHub. The financial website’s staff compared 313 cities across America for it’s “2015 Most & Least Ethno-Racially Diverse Cities” report.

To identify the most ethno-racially and linguistically diverse American landscapes, WalletHub analysts examined three key metrics, including racial and ethnic diversity, language diversity and U.S. region of birth diversity.

Boston checked in as the 21st most diverse city. Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Jersey City, New Jersey, topped the list.

Other Massachusetts towns to appear on the list were Lowell, Lynn, Worcester, Cambridge, New Bedford, Quincy and Fall River.

Here’s how Boston ranked for each key metric used in the study:

“Racial and Ethnic Diversity” Rank: 20

“Language Diversity” Rank: 34

“U.S. Region of Birth Diversity” Rank: 74
