Enjoy Family Fun Tonight at Peter Looney Park

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on June 11 in Charlestown.

1. Rain: Expect showers today, and possibly a thunderstorm, with patchy fog before 2 p.m. and wind gusts of up to 21 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. Showers and thunderstorms are likely in the evening. High: 65, Low: 59.

2. Family fun: The annual Peter Looney Night, part of Charlestown Pride Week, will be held tonight starting at 6 p.m. at Peter Looney Park on Union Street. The event is sponsored by Charlestown Against Drugs and Boston City Councilor Sal LaMattina and will feature a live puppet show, music, pizza, face painting and other family activities. All are welcome to attend.

3. Music Together: Bring the kids to the Charlestown Branch Library (179 Main St.) today at 11 a.m. for a sing-a-long with Ms. Bridget.

4. Elderly Ice Cream Party: The Zelma Lacey House (9 West School St.) will host an ice cream party for Charlestown seniors today from 2-3:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the community.

5. Senate debate: Massachusetts U.S. Senate candidates Gabriel Gomez and Edward Markey will meet up in a second debate tonight from 7-8 p.m. at the WGBY-TV studios in Springfield. The debate, sponsored by the Western Massachusetts Media Consortium, will air live on NPR affiliate New England Public Radio 88.5 FM. The debate will also stream live on MassLive.com.
