Get Involved with the Kennedy Center this Holiday Season
The local human service agency seeks support and invites the community to get involved during the holiday season.

The Kennedy Center -- Charlestown's own anti-poverty agency -- is marking the holidays with three events and a program. The neighborhood is invited to participate.
Sponsor a Family
There are families in Charlestown who have a challenging time paying for a holiday dinner, winter coats or toys for Christmas. The Kennedy Center works directly with many of these families and, during the holidays, welcomes a partnership from residents who have the resources to help. If you want to "sponsor" a local family in need during the holiday season, contact Martha Auerbach, social services coordinator at 617-241-8866 ext. 1338. She can coordinate the sponsorship and work with individuals based on their ability to give.

Kate’s Holiday Flea Market
Do you have any children's clothing, women and mens coats, accessories, household goods, books or other holiday items available for donation? You can contribute them for the holiday flea market. Donations are being accepted right now from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Kennedy Center's Community Resource Center at 55 Bunker Hill Street. The flea market is set for Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Holiday Potluck Luncheon
All friends, colleagues, and clients of the Kennedy Center are invited to the Holiday Potluck Luncheon on Dec. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kennedy Center Community Resource Center (also at 55 Bunker Hill St.) Bring your favorite dish or bring a friend. RSVP with Consuelo, 617-241-8866 ext. 1211.
Colleen‘s Toy Drive
Each year the Kennedy Center raises funds to purchase toys, coats, and books for needy families in Charlestown. The center's good friend and former employee Colleen Justice undertook this enormous task every year for the past 20 years. Now that Colleen is unable to do this for us, we have decided to thank her by naming the Toy Drive in her honor. To make a donation, contact Erica Schwartz at 617-241-8866 ext. 1335.
