Meet with Sen. Sal DiDomenico Today at Zume's

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on June 14 in Charlestown.

1. Showers: Rain is likely before noon, with scattered showers in the evening, mainly before 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. High: 68, Low: 54. Weekend forecast: Saturday will be sunny and clear with a high around 79 and a low around 58. Sunday will be mostly sunny with a chance of showers late in the evening; the high will be around 81 and the low around 62.

2. Coffee talk: State Senator Sal DiDomenico will hold local office hours today from 9:30-11 a.m. at Zume’s Coffee House (223 Main St.). Come meet with the senator or a member of his staff to discuss local issues, seek assistance in dealing with state agencies or talk about any other topic of concern.

3. Medication Take Back: Bring your unused medications, prescription and over-the-counter drugs, to be disposed of safely at the fourth annual “Take Back” event this Saturday, June 15 during the Charlestown Chamber of Commerce Street Fair on Main Street between Austin and West School streets. Drop off items at the “Take Back” booth between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and receive a $5 gift card from a local merchant.

4. Bunker Hill Day Parade: The 2013 Battle of Bunker Hill Day Parade will step off at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 16 at Hayes Square. The parade will head down Bunker Hill Street then down Main, Union, Washington, Harvard, Pleasant and Warren streets, Monument Avenue, High, Green and Bartlett streets and Monument Square. The parade will end at the Training Field on Winthrop Street. Check out the full schedule of Bunker Hill Day weekend events.

5. Paint the town: Businesses and residents along the Bunker Hill Day parade route are being asked to adorn their properties with patriotic decorations leading up to Sunday’s Battle of Bunker Hill Parade. Volunteers are also needed to help on Saturday, June 15 at around 5 p.m. to decorate the parade route with flags, balloons and ribbons.
