New Charlestown Mayor To Be Announced at Saturday's Mummers Concert
The free annual event will be held outside the Bunker Hill Monument.

Candidates to become the next “Mayor of Charlestown” have a few extra days to sell ballots.
Previously scheduled for Thursday night, the announcement of the new mayor will now be made at the annual Mummers Concert on Saturday, June 15, after the Mayor’s Night event at Eden Park was canceled because of rain.
The free Mummers Concert will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. outside the Bunker Hill Monument, and the Mayor of Charlestown announcement will be made during intermission, according to Sean Boyle.

Candidates now have until 4 p.m. Saturday to sell ballots. Ballots cost $1 each, with proceeds to benefit the Townies Association, and the candidate to sell the most ballots will win the title of 2013 Mayor of Charlestown.

The new Mayor of Charlestown will win a trip for two to Ireland and will march in the 2013 Bunker Hill Day Parade on Sunday, June 16.
Anyone who buys a ballot will have a chance to win a $500 grand prize.
Get Out Your Red, White and Blue!
Businesses and residents along the Bunker Hill Day parade route are being asked to adorn their properties with patriotic decorations. "Paint the Town: Red, White and Blue" is an effort to increase local pride in the Bunker Hill Day Parade by providing Charlestown with a patriotic and festive environment.
Volunteers are needed to help on Saturday, June 15 with the other half of the "Paint the Town: Red, White and Blue" campaign. Beginning at 5 p.m., local residents will begin to decorate the entire parade route with flags, balloons and ribbons. Charlestown Pride Week Events
Charlestown Pride Week activities leading up to the Bunker Hill Day will continue Friday night, with the Annual Night Before Banquet from 6:30-11 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The event is sponsored by James W. Conway American Legion Post 26. Tickets cost $30 and can be purchased by contacting Arthur Hurley at 617-678-3103 or or Eileen Locke at 617-242-7523.

Annual Edna Kelly Doll Carriage Parade—Saturday, June 15, 10 a.m. at Training Field, Winthrop Square. Participation is free, but register by Friday, June 14 using the form in the Charlestown Patriot-Bridge newspaper or by emailing ekdollcarriageparade@outlook.com.
Charlestown Chamber of Commerce Annual Street Fair—Saturday, June 15, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Main Street between Austin and West School streets. Shop and explore an open market featuring local businesses and nonprofits. Get rid of old medications safely by turning them in at a table at the street fair—and receive a $5 gift certificate to local businesses.
Charlestown Garden Tour—Saturday, June 15, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets cost $20 each and will be on sale the day of the tour at the Gardens for Charlestown community garden, at the intersection of Main and Bunker Hill streets near Sullivan Square.
26th Annual Bunker Hill Associates Breakfast—Sunday, June 16 , 8:30-11 a.m. at Knights of Columbus Hall. For tickets, contact David Whelan, BHA secretary, at 617-788-2206.
45th Battle of Bunker Hill Road Race—Sunday, June 16 at 9:15 and 10 a.m. This 2K Fun Run and 8K Race is in its 45th year and benefits the local Boys and Girls Club. The 8K race will start at 9:15 a.m. and takes place on a USAT&F certified course, starts and finishes at the Charlestown Navy Yard and passes the Bunker Hill Monument, USS Constitution and Warren Tavern. There is also a 2K novice race for children and families and fun post-race activities. Register online at http://bgcb.org/charlestown.
Battle of Bunker Hill Day Parade—Sunday, June 16 at 12:30 p.m. Starts at Hayes Square then goes down Bunker Hill, Main, Union, Washington, Harvard, Pleasant and Warren streets, Monument Avenue, High, Green and Bartlett streets to Monument Square. Ends at the Training Field on Winthrop Street.
