Police Arrest Charlestown Man Following Bank Robbery
Officers responded to the Santander Bank at 437 Rutherford Avenue early Sunday morning. John Crilley was arrested for the alleged crime.

Boston Police apprehended a Charlestown man who was wanted in connection to an armed bank robbery on Sunday.
Officers responded to the Santander Bank at 437 Rutherford Avenue in the city’s Charlestown neighborhood for reported hold-up around 9:30 a.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, bank employees stated that the suspect allegedly grabbed one individual, said that he had a gun and demanded money. The armed intruder was given money containing dye packs before he fled the bank on a bicycle, police were told.

Officers learned the suspect had taken off heading toward Main Street. Employees accurately described the suspect, alerting police of the yellow raincoat which he had been wearing.
After scouting the area for the suspect, an officer spotted a man in a yellow raincoat in the area of Essex Street and Tibbetts Town Way. A witness confirmed the sighting with police.

Police were able to positively identify the suspect after reviewing surveillance footage from the bank. They then arrested John Crilley, 45, of Charlestown, without incident behind a local resident’s home.
Crilley was charged with assault and battery and armed robbery. He is also facing additional charges for allegedly robbing a convenient store back in September.
