Police Seize Sawed-Off Shotgun, Drugs from Boston Home

Police arrested an East Boston man Friday after finding a shotgun, drugs, and hundreds of dollars in cash at a home in the area of 251 Meridian Street, police said.

Jeffrey Lugo, 24, was arrested and charged with possession of Class B drugs with intent to distribute. Police are working to obtain an arrest warrant for a 21-year-old male for the unlawful possession of a shotgun and ammunition.

Around 3:30 p.m., officers set up surveillance on the two men after obtaining search warrants.

The officers were then able to stop both targets in a motor vehicle. They informed the suspects of the search warrants and performed a preliminary search, police said. The suspects were then escorted to the target location for execution of the third search warrant.

During the execution of the warrant, officers recovered a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun, one spent round of shotgun ammunition, one live round of shotgun ammunition, five individually wrapped bags of crack cocaine, less than one ounce of marijuana, drug paraphernalia consistent with distribution and over $600 in US currency, police said.

A third suspect was issued a citation for the possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
