Street Sweeping Changes Underway for Charlestown
But don't worry -- they're not starting until April 2012.

The city's public works department wants to implement a new street sweeping schedule next April and parts of Charlestown will be affected by the changes. Here's what you need to know:
The impacted areas are generally bordered by Main Street and the Gilmore Bridge (aka Prison Bridge, aka the bridge that goes to Cambridge). Also points along Medford Street to the harbor will be affected.
If your street sweeping is currently scheduled for Tuesday, it will likely be changing to Thursday. Why? Because trash collection happens on Wednesday. Moving street sweeping to Thursday should alleviate some of the litter and debris generated during waste pickup.

Two more notes:
If you live in Monument Square, where trash pickup and street sweeping are happening on the same day (Wednesday), nothing is changing. Street sweeping won't start in the neighborhood until trash and recycling are cleared.
And, FYI, these changes are underway in 10 other neighborhoods around Boston.
