Week in Review: Bunker Hill Film in the Works, Resident Awakened by Break-in

A look at some of the top stories on Charlestown Patch last week.

Life gets busy, and Patch certainly understands that. So with that in mind, here are a few stories you might have missed on Charlestown Patch this week:

  1. Ben Affleck Tapped To Direct Bunker Hill Film—A new book about the Battle of Bunker Hill could soon be a film—possibly one directed by Ben Affleck.
  2. Police Reports: Resident Awakened by Break-in—A Main Street resident reported that someone broke into his house at around 4 a.m. on Thursday, March 14 but then fled when confronted. 
  3. Zelma Lacey House Welcomes New Director—Now in her fourth week on the job, the Zelma Lacey House's new executive director Kristen Duggan is settling into her role and getting to know the residents and their families. 
  4. Patch Answers: Charles River Dam Walkway Closures—The path over the locks was closed for a few days in January for repairs and closes several times daily to allow vessels to pass through the dam.
  5. Summer Camp Guide for Charlestown—Enrollment is starting soon for many summer camps. Here's a selection of programs in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
  6. City Snow Removal Costs Surpass $17.8M Budget—Before the most recent storm had even started, Boston had overspent its $17.8 million snow removal budget, with costs so far coming in at $18.1 million.
  7. —Last week, Mayor Thomas Menino announced a concerted effort by the Boston Public Works Department to fill potholes that appeared over the winter. In addition, the department is asking for residents' help to identify problem spots on the roads.
