17-Year-Old Struck By Train In Chelmsford

The teen has been taken to a Boston hospital with serious injuries.

CHELMSFORD, MA — A 17-year-old boy is suffering from serious injuries after being struck by a train in Chelmsford Wednesday, said the Chelmsford Police Department in a news release.

Chelmsford Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of Drexel Dr. near the border of Westford and Chelmsford around 12:10 p.m. after receiving reports of a person struck by a train. The teen was immediately treated on-scene by paramedics and taken by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital.

Police say that an initial investigation indicates that the teen was walking on the tracks and was unaware that the train was approaching when the crash took place.

The teen's name has not been released.

The incident remains under investigation by Chelmsford Police, the National Transportation Safety Board, and the Federal Railroad Administration and no further information has been released.
