Body Found in Chelmsford Woods ID'ed as Missing Grandmother
Four teenage boys found Elga Crespo's body on Monday afternoon.

Authorities have positively identified the woman whose body was found in a wooded area off Chelmsford’s Technology Drive on Nov. 9.
Elga Crespo, a 67-year-old grandmother, wandered away from her Tulip Lane home in Lowell near the Chelmsford line on Oct. 25. Her body was discovered by a group of four teenage boys, Chelmsford residents, who were playing in the woods the afternoon of Nov. 9, according to Chelmsford Deputy Chief Dan Ahern. Her body was located in the wooded between a restaurant and the parking lot of the Environmental Protection Agency facility in Chelmsford.
Crespo’s disappearance on the evening of Sunday, Oct. 25 sparked a multi-department search. At that time, authorities described Crespo as having moderate mental retardation and the mental functioning of an 8-year-old.

Her death remains under investigation by police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, but there are no immediate signs of foul play.
According to a Facebook page established when Crespo went missing, there were a number of unsuccessful search parties organized during the two weeks Crespo was missing.
