Motagi, who was the student council's treasurer the last two years, said he initially was nervous about all the responsibility that would come with being president.
"However, I soon realized that I have this role for a reason, and I am confident in my ability to ensure that the student council will continue to succeed," Motagi told the school's website.
Motagi added: "Another factor that really played into my excitement was the wonderful team that I will have by my side. The rest of the board is extremely committed, and I am eagerly looking forward to the great things we will accomplish for the CHS community."
According to the school website, Motagi and his fellow council members have said the COVID-19 outbreak was a major disruption to many clubs and causes at the school.
As a result, the student leaders have expressed interest in increasing involvement and engagement in activities like student council, Student Leadership Conference and the Pep Rally and conducting additional fundraising events, according to the school website.
"I was really excited when I first found out about being appointed as student council VP because it was something I had wanted to happen for a while, and because it gives me an opportunity to deal with issues in CHS and tackle them head-on," Colpoys said.
