“It is an honor for CHS to be selected as a Grammy Signature Schools Semifinalist,” said Christina Whittlesey, the fine and performing arts coordinator at Chelmsford Public Schools, in a press release. “This designation is a testament not only to the quality of our teachers and our music curriculum at each level, but also to the support that the Chelmsford community gives to our arts programs.”

Whittlesey submitted the application for the program in October. Based on scores for the initial application, schools were asked to submit additional documentation, such as recordings of school concerts, sample concert programs, and repertoire, which will be reviewed by an independent blue-ribbon committee of top music educators and professionals to determine the schools that merit Grammy Signature School status, according to a press release.
