Chelmsford Man Hopes to Revolutionize Real Estate Industry With New Software

Buying a home can be the largest and most time consuming purchase any one person will make in their lifetime, but one Chelmsford man is hoping his new process can help streamline the process.

Donald Van Dyne is well known to those familiar with local politics, having served on various town boards in the past, especially in terms of economic matters. Now, he’s hoping to bring the knowledge he’s accumulated in the public and private sector in a new system called “iGofsbo,” created by Van Dyne’s company, JABIN Software.

Described as a licensed software suite comparable to Microsoft Office, IGofsbo is basically a simplified online-ready template helping those selling a home through all of the steps from creating a listing to making an offer, especially with homes for sale by owners, commonly known as “FSBOs.”

Bringing together his experience as the Principal at JABIN as well as his role with the Chelmsford Capital Group, Van Dyne believes the new service will revolutionize the real estate industry.

“I started to think about what’s the most efficient process, and I realized you can go online to buy an airline ticket, you can go online to buy stocks, it only makes sense you can go online to engage in property transactions,” says Van Dyne. “Our platform is designed to help bring buyers and sellers together and make matches that happen in a system that is transparent, efficient and cost-effective.”

 Far from replacing real estate agents, Van Dyne hopes the service can act as a tool for both agents and individuals buying or selling a home, including those doing so without an agent.

“We’re converging both ends to the middle, you’re taking a FSBO who’s on their own and bringing more order to that process, and for a real estate agent, it’s an added value for their client,” he said. “It basically brings the traditional model into one stream.”

The future remains unclear on what will come for the product, but Van Dyne hopes the product can help spur Chelmsford on as a hub known for technological advances.

“That would make me very excited if we could put Chelmsford on the map that way for something positive,” he said. “Much like you have those incubators out in California, I hope people will say we now have our own in Chelmsford. That would be perfect.”
