CHELMSFORD, MA — The Chelmsford police and fire departments will gather just after 8:30 a.m. Friday to mark the nineteenth anniversary of the attacks of Sept. 11, outside the fire station.

"The brief ceremony will allow for reflection of the time the World Trade Center towers were hit; 8:46 am and 9:03 am," according to Chelmsford police department officials.

Each year as police and fire departments across the country remember the thousands who died as a result of terrorist attacks, the commonwealth remembers the 206 connected to Massachusetts who lost their lives as a result, too. In Chelmsford, officials pause to remember those connected to the town.

Sept. 11 has become one of the largest national days of service in America. But this year a group is asking that people support a "9/11 Day At Home," spending the day doing good deeds "virtually."

The online group is suggesting people pick a good deed - from supporting a charity, to donating items to others or food to a pantry.
