Chelmsford Police Escort Milestone Birthday Surprise

CHELMSFORD, MA — Charlie Dahlgren was outside near his car on his birthday when he heard the lights and sirens, and looks up, slightly mortified. He looks over to his daughter, who is filming and says "how did you get the cops to do this?"

He shakes his head and says "unbelievable," and he turns and watches as police escort a parade of cars, minivans and pickups with people waving and holding signs to celebrate Dahlgren's 60th birthday, while his daughter chuckles and films it all.

In the video you can see Dahlgren wave and blow kisses to the "guests" of his surprise birthday.

"Thank you, Chelmsford Police for the birthday escort! Charlie Dahlgren of Evergreen Signs, 60th Birthday, April 15... Meant a lot to our whole family, thank you for your service, keeping the community safe, and in times of uncertainty taking the extra time to help make some special moments," wrote Steve Dahlgren in a submission to the Patch this week.
