Three area police departments, including Chelmsford’s, are working together to find the man they say robbed banks in each of their towns recently.
In Chelmsford, a man walked into the Citizens Bank inside Stop & Shop on Oct. 27 and handed the teller a note demanding money. He didn’t show a weapon and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Just a few days before, on Oct. 24, a man walked into the Citizens Bank inside Stop & Shopt in Stoneham and robbed the bank in a similar way.
”We believe that given the mirror similarities in these cases that the suspect is likely connected to the recent robberies in both Chelsmford and Reading,” Stoneham Police Chief James McIntyre said in a statement. “This is an active and ongoing investigation and we are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect.”

The teller in the Stoneham incident described the suspect as “in his late 20s or early 30s, approximately 6 feet tall, with tan skin and wearing a dark knit cap, big sunglasses, a black coat, blue jeans and sneakers,” according to the press release.
Chelmsford police in an earlier release offered a description of the suspect as a white or Hispanic male who was wearing a baseball cap, jeans, sneakers and a black and gray fleece jacket.
