Chelmsford Residents Named Students of the Month at Nashoba Tech

Alysa Alvarado and Sabrina Reedy, both Chelmsford residents, have been selected as October’s Students of the Month at Nashoba Valley Technical High School.

Alysa Alvarado, daughter of Jahayra Santiago, is a junior in the Hotel & Restaurant Management program. She is an honor-roll student and participates in SkillsUSA. She is on the varsity volleyball team.

Through the Hotel & Restaurant Management program, she has helped serve meals at local senior centers.

Alvarado plans to attend Middlesex Community College next year to study Criminal Justice, then transfer to the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

She was nominated by Hotel & Restaurant Management Instructor Jeremy Bussiere, who wrote: “Alysa goes above and beyond to help her classmates. She takes initiative to help others. As a new teacher at Nashoba Tech, and Alysa steps up to help me in any way she can. She always has a smile on her face and goes out of her way to make her
peers and new students feel welcome and comfortable. Alysa is a natural leader and has the maturity and drive to use her leadership to help those around her.”

Sabrina Reedy, daughter of Shelley Reedy, is a senior in the Banking/Marketing/Retail program. She is an honor-roll student and serves as a Kick-Off Mentor, helping incoming freshmen to acclimate themselves to Nashoba Tech.
Reedy is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, DECA and SkillsUSA; is president of the senior class; and competes for the volleyball and softball teams. She hopes to apply to the University of Massachusetts Lowell to study Finance. She also has acquired a position as a teller for the Lowell Five Cent Savings Bank, which has a branch at Nashoba Tech.

Reedy was nominated by two staff members.:Banking/Marketing/Retail Instructor Sarah Ricard wrote, “Sabrina
approaches every day with enthusiasm and is always willing to help out with anything that needs to be done. She has blossomed during her time in the Banking/Marketing/Retail program, maturing each year by always
looking for ways to improve and asking questions, and she sets a great example for her peers.”

English Instructor and softball coach Daniel Ford added: “Sabrina is one of my stronger students in 12th-grade Honors English. She also plays softball, where her athletic ability and leadership qualities blend together very well.”
