Chelmsford School District Back To School Model: Hybrid, Online
Like much of the state, the first day of instruction for Chelmsford students will be Sept. 16 and will begin from behind a computer screen.

CHELSMFORD, MA — Like much of the state, the first day of instruction for Chelmsford students will be Sept. 16 and will begin from behind a computer screen at home.
But Families of students will have the choice to keep their children home and have them participate fully online for the school year, or send them to school a couple of days via the "hybrid" option.
Students will be split into two groups (according to last names), to make room inside the building for distancing. One group will head to school Monday and Tuesday for four hours of in-person learning and a second group will attend in person at school on Thursday and Friday. Both will start the day at school, but finish with an online activity at home so they can have lunch at home. The model calls for two days of in person learning and three days of online learning. Wednesday, all students will have school from home, while the school gets a deep clean.

Learning standards will remain the same for all students. Grading and assessments will return to the usual practices, prior to the pandemic, for each level, according to the plan.
