Chelmsford Power All But Fully Restored Sunday Morning

There could still be a stray customer without power.

CHELMSFORD, MA -

UPDATE, Saturday, Feb. 7 at 8:25 a.m. - More than 48 hours since the first winter storm of the season knocked out power to large parts of Chelmsford, National Grid is reporting that only a stray customer or two is still without power

The map showed fewer than five people without power as of 8:25 a.m.

UPDATE, Saturday, Feb. 6 at 11 p.m. - The number of customers without power in Chelmsford continued to dwindle Saturday night, but the estimate for when the town would be fully restored lengthened.

According to the National Grid outage map, 120 customers in Chelmsford remained without power as of 11 p.m. Saturday. The newest estimate for fully restoring power to the town stood at noon on Sunday, Feb. 7.

UPDATE, Saturday, Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. - A handful of Chelmsford National Grid customers remain without power and it could be Sunday before they’re back in the warmth and light.

According to Natonal Grid’s outage map, 440 Chelmsford customers remain without power, and the current restoration estimate is 6 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 7.

UPDATE, Friday, Feb. 5 at 11 p.m.: National Grid reported that 555 customers in Chelmsford remained without power as of 11 p.m. Friday.

While that number is down significantly from the more than 2,000 earlier in the day, the estimate for full restoration is 9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6. That means many people could have been without power for more than 30 hours.

More than 2,000 Chelmsford residents are without power as of 2:20 p.m. Friday.

Travel is treacherous, according to the Chelmsford Police Department and the heavy, wet snow has brought down multiple branches and wires throughout town.

Road Closures/Conditions:

The Chelmsford Police Department said on its page on Facebook that roads are quite bad and urged residents to stay off of them if at all possible. Additionally, there are multiple trees and wires down blocking roads. If you know of roads blocked, please email chelmsford@patch.com.

Power Outages:

  • According to National Grid, 2,235 customers are without power and there is not yet an estimate of when power will be restored. There are multiple areas of outages around town, but the largest area seems to be near Parker and Concord roads.
  • If you lose power, contact National Grid at 1-800-465-1212. DO NOT call Chelmsford police for power outages unless it is a true emergency; the department does not have estimates on when power will be restored.

Trash Pickup

  • Friday trash pickup has been suspended. It will be continued Saturday.

Friday Events:

  • The Chelmsford Public Library is without power, but the Winterfest Social from 7-10 p.m. was still ON as of 2:45 p.m. A final decision will be made about 5 p.m.
  • McCarthy Middle School’s 7 p.m. production of “The Lion King” is ON, according to a post on Chelmsford In-Town Report.
  • The Theatre Guild’s Children’s Play “Imagine” is ON for 7 p.m. at Chelmsford High School, according to a post on Chelmsford In-Town Report.
