Chelmsford's Jack Eichel Drafted by the Buffalo Sabres
The Hobey Baker Memorial Award winner and BU freshman was the number two pick for the Sabres in Friday night's NHL draft.
Just a couple months after winning the prestigious Hobey Baker Memorial Award, North Chelmsford’s Jack Eichel was drafted in Friday night’s NHL draft by the Buffalo Sabres.
Eichel was announced as the Hobey Baker Memorial Award winner in April following an historic freshman year at Boston University. Eichel is only the second freshman in the award’s 35-year history to win the Hobey. Last season, Eichel led the nation in scoring with 67 points.
The Hobey Baker Memorial Award is given to the top college hockey player in the country.

Upon winning the award, Eichel was projected by many hockey experts to be a top two NHL draft selection in June. That prediction came true Friday night as the Sabres picked him as their second pick in the draft.
Eichel also captained the U.S. team in the most recent World Junior tournament held in Canada.
