Dog License Deadline is Approaching in Chelmsford
You have until Feb. 29 to license your dog before the fee increases.

CHELMSFORD, MA - Fido could cost you $15 to license in 2016, or he could cost you more than double that amount.
If you license your dog in Chelmsford by the Feb. 29 deadline, the fee is only $15 ($20 for unaltered dogs), but each month that passes after that adds to the fee you’ll pay:
- from March 1-31, $20 or $25 for unaltered
- from April 1-30, $25 or $30 for unaltered
- from May 1-31, $30 or $35 for unaltered
- from June 1-30, $35 or $40 for unaltered
Please note that dogs that are new to Chelmsford cost This year, residents have the option of completing the licensing online. Here’s what you need to do that:

- Digital file (PDF, JPEG, TIFF, etc.) of your dog’s current rabies certificate from your veterinarian;
- To renew a previously licensed dog, your dog’s 2015 tag number (on the gold, paw-shaped tag on your dog’s collar); and
- Credit card or checking account payment information.
To pay online through your checking or savings account, there is an addition $.30 per license fee. To pay with a Visa or Mastercard, you’ll pay a convenience fee of $1-$4.

- return it, along with a copy of the rabies certificate if the one on file with the town isn’t up-to-date, a certification of spay or neuter (if required) and a check for the fee made out to Town of Chelmsford, to Clerk’s Office at 50 Billerica Road, Chelmsford, MA 01824.
You can submit the same info in person at the clerk’s office.
