UPDATE: Dracut Man Pleads Not Guilty To Impersonating A Police Officer
DA: Man allegedly had a firearm, police baton and car outfitted with flashing lights.


LOWELL – A 45-year-old Dracut man pleaded not guilty today to allegedly impersonating a police officer while waiting in Tyngsborough with a woman, who was waiting for a tow truck for her disabled car, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.
In Lowell District Court on Monday, Kevin Lessard, 45, of Dracut, had his bail set at $1,000 cash after pleading not guilty to charges of : impersonating a police officer; carrying a dangerous weapon; carrying a firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without a license.
If Lassard posts bail, Judge Barbara Pearson order that he possess no firearms or dangerous weapons.

Lessard's next court date is April 7.
Tyngsborough police state that at 3: 26 p.m. on Saturday, officers were dispatched to Pawtucket Boulevard in response to a report of a motor vehicle, that was not a police car, with flashing lights that had pulled behind another car.

Upon arrival, police were informed that Lessard had allegedly pulled behind a motor vehicle that was disabled on the side of the road with lights flashing. Lessard allegedly approached the operator of the disabled vehicle and informed the woman he would wait with her until a tow truck arrived. Lassard allegedly returned to his motor vehicle to wait.
Authorities allege that in the past Lessard has claimed to work alongside the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
Tyngsborough Police officers allegedly found Lessard was carrying a loaded unlicensed firearm that contained seven rounds of 9mm ammunition. The chamber of the firearm was empty.

A search of the defendant’s motor vehicle allegedly resulted in the discovery of a police-style metal baton.
