Eichel Named Finalist for Hobey Baker Memorial Award
The award is given to the top college hockey player in the country.

Boston University freshman and Chelmsford resident Jack Eichel has been voted as one of three Hobey Baker Hat Trick Finalists.
Eichel joins Harvard University junior and North Reading resident Jimmy Vesey and Zane McIntyre of the University of North Dakota.
The Hobey Baker Memorial Award is given to the top college hockey player in the country.

Eichel is the first freshman finalist for the award in 12 years. He led the nation in scoring with 67 points.
The 18-year-old was the Hockey East scoring champion, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, First Team Hockey East and a member of the All-Rookie Team. He was also named Most Valuable Player at the Hockey East playoff tournament.

Eichel also led the nation in assists, power play goals (22) and plus-minus (+49).
Hobey Baker Memorial Award nominees are chosen with these four areas in mind:
- Strength of character, on and off the ice
- Contribution to the integrity of the team and outstanding skills in all phases of the game
- Scholastic achievement and sportsmanship
- Compliance with all NCAA rules, including being a full-time student in an accredited college or university and completing 50 percent or more of the season
The winner will be announced during a ceremony at 5 p.m. Friday, April 10 and will be televised live regionally on NESN and on the NHL Network
