How Chelmsford Residents Can Request A Mail-In Ballot Online

Mail-in voting was deemed successful for the state primary, but there will be some adjustments for the November election.

CHELMSFORD, MA — With Election Day less than six weeks away, Massachusetts voters can request a mail-in ballot online without submitting any physical paperwork for the first time.

"If you choose to Vote by Mail, and have not applied previously, please submit your application sooner rather than later," Chelmsford Town Clerk staff said.

And that just became easier: Secretary of State William Galvin launched an online portal Wednesday, www.mailmyballotma.com, allowing all registered voters to ask their local election officials for a mail-in general election ballot.

Once you get an application in the mail, you have until Oct. 28 to get that back to the Chelmsford election office. They can be mailed, dropped off or electronically submitted provided there is a visible signature.

But for those who haven't yet seen an application in the mail, you can apply through the online portal on the state's website.

Voters who have requested an Absentee or Early Voting by mail ballot can track their ballot through the Massachusetts Secretary of State’s website.

Unlike the primary, when ballots needed to arrive before polls closed on Election Day, mail-in ballots for the general election can arrive up until 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, as long as they were postmarked by Nov. 3.

In-person voting will still be available, including expanded early voting.

Early Voting in person Oct. 17 to Oct. 30

Early Voting will take place in the gymnasium behind the Town Offices at 50 Billerica Rd. Town officials ask that you park in the back parking lot for easier access.

  • Sat & Sun - 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
  • Mon, Wed, Thur - 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
  • Tues - 8:30 am - 7:00 pm
  • Fri - 8:30 am - 1:00 pm
