How Many Millionaires Live in Chelmsford?

According to the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, Chelmsford just missed the top 100 list of places with the most millionaires in Mass.

Boston suburbs continue to top the list of towns and cities with the most millionaires, according to the latest report from the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.

The Boston Business Journal reported the state’s Top 20 towns and cities with the most million-dollar income earners in 2013, which is the most recent year for which statistics are available.

Chelmsford came in at No. 103 on the list. In 2013, there were 22 millionaire tax-filers in Chelmsford. With just 22.7 square miles within the town borders, that means there is one millionaire per square mile in town.

Put another way, there’s a millionaire for every 1,578 Chelmsford residents, based on a population figure of 34,722.

Wellesley, Cambridge and Brookline topped the list, with 726 millionaire filers in Wellesley at 71 per square mile.

Among the top 20, all but Milton and Natick continued to report year-after-year declines in the number of Millionaires, said the BBJ.
