Dump Truck Spill Forces I-495 Closure In Chelmsford On Wed. Morning

Wet concrete was spilled across three lanes and multiple cars drove through the concrete. The cleanup was completed by the early afternoon.

CHELMSFORD, MA —All three travel lanes on Interstate 495 south — south of Route 3 — in Chelmsford were closed for several hours Wednesday morning after a dump truck spilled wet concrete on the roadway, the Massachusetts State Police said.

Police said multiple vehicles drove through the concrete, which was spilled across all three lanes.

During the cleanup effort, vehicles were allowed to drive in the breakdown lane only. Exit 88 also was closed for a time while the cleanup took place.

The cleanup was completed and all three lanes reopened shortly before 12:30 p.m., police said.
