Free Fun for Families and a Fiddle Fanatic's Dream
Beyond the ticketed concerts, the series continues its long-running Free Fun For Kids program. Every Wednesday and Thursday morning in July and August, young audiences can enjoy live entertainment like music, dance, magic, and animal shows. These events also offer free lunches from Lowell Public Schools, healthy snacks, free books from Project LEARN, creative activities, and complimentary trolley rides provided by the National Park Service. This free program serves thousands of local children and families each summer.
This year also marks the 44th annual Banjo and Fiddle Contest, set for Saturday, September 6, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The event is free for both contestants and spectators, offering workshops, organized jam sessions, and of course, intense banjo and fiddle competitions. Players can sign up now at LowellSummerMusic.org.
The Lowell Summer Music Series is a production of the Lowell Festival Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The series operates without taxpayer funding, relying on ticket sales, sponsorships, grants, and community support to bring these incredible acts to the city.
