Man Accused Of Trying To Kill Cops Held Without Bail As A 'Danger'

LOWELL -- The 48-year-old Dracut man accused of trying to run down two Lowell officers was ordered held without bail as a danger to society.
In Lowell District Court on Thursday, John Casey, of 28 Kilby St., Apt. 4, stipulated to being a danger to charges of: armed assault to murder; unarmed burglary; resisting arrest; failure to stop for police; and leaving the scene of property damage.
He also faces a bevy of motor-vehicle charges.
Casey was given a March 17 probable-cause hearing.
Lowell police responded on Feb. 26 to an incident at 307 Mammoth Road, where police allege Casey forced his way into a woman's apartment and threatened her.

He allegedly drove his truck toward two Lowell officers, who ordered him to turn off and get out of the truck, according to police.
Casey drove away, prompting a pursuit that ended in New Hampshire. His truck was found later Tuesday in Litchfield, N.H.
Lowell police used social media to ask for the public's help in finding Casey, who was arrested the next day.
