Middlesex Sheriff Opposes President's Approach To Immigration Enforcement

Sheriff Peter Koutoujian joins with other law enforcement officials to executive order on immigration enforcement.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Middlesex Sheriff Peter Koutoujian has joined forces with police chiefs and other law enforcement officials across the country to oppose President Donald Trump's immigration enforcement policies, The Lowell Sun reports.

Koutoujian signed a recent letter to senators that reacts to one of Trump's executive orders in which he asked for cooperation from state and local law enforcement to aid in deportations.

The letter states that "threatening the removal of valuable grant funding from jurisdictions that choose not to spend limited resources enforcing federal immigration law is extremely problematic."
