Multiple Chelmsford Students Vying for Hood Scholarship

Residents can vote for candidates on the Hood website, with national winners receiving $5,000.

There are plenty of student-athletes in the halls of Chelmsford High School deserving of recognition.

Several Lions in particular are close to receiving that recognition thanks to the annual Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship Program. But they need the community's help.

Six Chelmsford students are finalists for the national award, which will give the 18 winning entries $5,000 each.

Residents are encouraged to vote for the winner now through April 18 at 3 p.m. Each entry includes an essay on why the participant should be selected for the scholarship.

Chelmsford's Hannah Wright, for example, tells the story of how she learned that nothing is perfect, including herself, as she morphed her philosophy as she approached meets as a member of the Lady Lions swim team.

Wright is joined by classmates and fellow Hood finalists Denis de la Flor, Max Higson, Amanda L'Hussier, Shawn Lefebvre, and Nardina Serra as Chelmsford's representatives in the contest.
