Six Chelmsford High Seniors Named Students Of The Month For November

The Chelmsford Rotary Cub has sponsored the Student of the Month program for over 30 years.

CHELMSFORD, MA — Six seniors at Chelmsford High School have been named the Lions Pride/Rotary Students of the Month for November.

The Chelmsford Rotary Club has sponsored the Student of the Month program for over 30 years. The winners, who were announced by CHS Principal Stephen Murray, were chosen for their achievements in and out of the classroom.

Ethan DeHaan: DeHaan is a member of the National Honor Society and the National English Honor Society. He serves as the student speaker to the Chelmsford School Committee, is a board member of the CHS Mentors, and he is a member of Class Representatives, Get Involved Volunteer Everywhere (GIVE), and Leaders In Motion Everywhere (LIME). DeHaan also competes in volleyball and track.

A musician, DeHaan plays the saxophone in the CHS Jazz Band and is a leader in the Chelmsford All-Town Wind Ensemble. He also gives free saxophone lessons to a fifth-grade student.

Shamoyl Vaid: Vaid is in the National Honor Society and the National English Honor Society. He is involved in GIVE, LIME, Class Representatives, CHS Mentors, the Physics and Engineering Club, and the Investing Club. He also is part of the track and field team.

Additionally, Vaid plays the saxophone in the CHS Jazz Band and he volunteers with the Household Goods Organization and the annual Chelmsford Turkey Drive.

Akhila Garre: Garre is part of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and National Science Honor Society. She is an AP Scholar and National Merit Scholarship commended student, and she received honorable mention honors in the JFK Profile in Courage Essay Contest.

Garre also is the president of the Interact Club, the business editor of the yearbook, and is a member of GIVE, Women Stem and the Physics and Engineering club. She also volunteers at the Chelmsford Food Pantry and with the Wish Project.

Garre competes in tennis and cross country at CHS.

Emma Taylor: Taylor is part of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Science Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society. She also received the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Junior College Book Award last spring. Plus, Taylor is a National Merit Scholarship commended student.

Taylor is a four-year member of the CHS volleyball team, serving as the squad's captain for two years. She also is an executive board member for the Freshman Mentor program, and she is part of CHS Peer Mentors and GIVE.

Taylor Kiggins: Kiggins is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society. She is president of the executive board for the Freshman Mentor program and she is scheduled to serve as a mentor in the Resiliency Program next semester.

Away from CHS, Kiggins participates with Dance New England, including serving as a dance teacher. She also volunteers at St. Mary's Church and for the CHS Trunk or Treat event.

Rishi Madivada: Madivada is a National Merit Scholarship commended student, he is captain of the Science Team and Math Team and he earned a fourth-place finish at the Harvard University Science Olympiad last year. He also is a member of the Physics and Engineering Club.

Madivada also is involved in Balahari and in raising funds for the Wish Project. Plus, he has worked with robotics teams based out of MIT's Lincoln Laboratories.
