Travel Advisory: Weekend Road Closure On Route 129 In Chelmsford

The closure will be in place from 7 p.m. on Friday, August 13 to 5 a.m. on Monday, August 16.

CHELMSFORD, MA — This weekend, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will temporarily close Route 129 (Billerica Road) at Riverneck Rd. over Meadow Brook in Chelmsford.

The closure will be in place from 7 p.m. on Friday, August 13 to 5 a.m. on Monday, August 16, allowing crews to safely install precast concrete rigid frame culvert components.

This work is part of the $6.3 million project to reconstruct the Meadow Brook culvert, set to be completed in October 2021. The closure this weekend is the first of three that are needed to complete the project.

Eastbound travel on Route 129

  • Detour onto Turnpike Road
  • Left onto Mill Road
  • Rejoin Route 129 (Billerica Road)

Westbound travel on Route 129

  • Left onto Mill Road
  • Right onto Turnpike Road
  • Rejoin Route 129 at the intersection of Turnpike and Route 129

Traffic control measures, including police details, will be in place during the road closure. Drivers should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
