Other

May 20, 4:25 p.m. -  A woman talked with Chelmsford Police after stating she was being followed by an individual driving a gold Honda with tinted windows.

The woman was frightened, stating that it may have been a private investigator and indicated that the vehicle followed her down Richardson Road, Princeton Street and the Drum Hill Rotary.

Police were unable to find the Honda in the area she described, and noted that no private investigator owning a vehicle with that description was registered with the police department.

May 20, 6:47 p.m. - Area residents reported an individual on Gay Street heading onto Princeton Street that was soliciting without a license.

Police caught up with the individual, a 27-year-old man from Washington state, just as he was leaving a restaurant in North Chelmsford.

While the man said he was unaware that he needed a license, a background check indicated he had been arrested several times in other states for soliciting without a license.

The officer on the call confiscated the Washington man's sales materials well as money he collected from a sale to a woman on Gay Street.

From there, the officer went to Gay Street and returned the woman's money, also helping a resident with a hit-and-run report on the way to the woman's house.

Other officers found the Washington man's colleagues and their materials were returned to them when they received a ride home from their employer at around 7:30 p.m.

Before leaving, they were informed not to solicit in town again until they obtained a permit.

May 22, 11:39 a.m. - A clerk at a hotel in town believed she had been given some counterfeit bills and that the guest who gave the bills would be returning later in the day.

However, upon further inspection and consultation with a local bank, the bills were found to be genuine and it was determined that the clerk's counterfeit checking pen was faulty.
