Is Zika Virus Causing You to Rethink Your February Break Plans?

CHELMSFORD, MA - Just when the doldrums of winter have you dreaming of someplace tropical, the Centers for Disease Control issues warnings about heading to some of those nearby warmer climes.
Zika virus has been on the tip of everyone’s tongues these past few weeks, but what does it mean for your travel plans.
Winter break begins Feb. 12 in Chelmsford, which means you’ve likely already made your reservations.
The CDC has issued a “Level 2” travel warning (”practice enhanced precautions”) for the following countries where Zika virus is active. Pregnant women should avoid travel to these countries altogether at this time, according to the CDC:
- Barbadoes
- Bolivia
- Brazil
- Columbia
- Dominican Republic
- Ecuador
- El Salvador
- French Guiana
- Guadeloupe
- Guatemala
- Guyana
- Haiti
- Honduras
- Martinique
- Mexico
- Panama
- Paraguay
- Puerto Rico
- Saint Martin
- Suriname
- U.S. Virgin Islands
- Venezuela
