Boy Scouts of America Vote to Accept Openly Gay Scouts

The decision was made during the Boy Scouts of America's annual meeting in Texas.

The Boy Scouts of America’s National Council has voted to allow openly gay boys as accepted Scouts, according to WCVB TV.

Under the Scouts’ Governing Board draft proposal, gay adults would remain prohibited from serving as Scout leaders, according to WCVB.

More than 60 percent of voters at the annual Scout meeting in Texas supported the proposal.

Concord is home to Troop 132, which draws from three Cub Scout Packs -- 133, 147 and 149.
